Lock #10 & Y-Bridge History Tour

Zanesville, OHIO

Lock #10 on the Muskingum River in Zanesville, OH is a place of tranquility and a step back in time. Located at the end of a historic canal, this working double lock still operates as it did when it was built over 170 years ago. Launching from the Pea Ohana boathouse, you will kayak to the lock where you will be greeted by the Lockmaster. During your time in the chamber, you will hear about the rich history of Lock #10 from your guide, Jody "Dutch" Holland a former ODNR Lockmaster. Once through the locks you will paddle past the 6th St. bridge towards the world famous Y-Bridge before turning back to trek the canal once more, ending your trip at the Putnam Landing park once you've exited the locks. Returning in 2024 with the reopening of Lock #10.
